Ford Motor Company is recalling over 100,000 trucks and SUVs because of a fire risk in the engine. The recall applies to some 2020-2022 Ford Escapes, 2021-2022 Lincoln Corsairs and 2022 Mavericks with a 2.5-liter hybrid or plug-in powertrain, according to a report from the Nation Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
If an engine failure occurs, engine oil and fuel vapors could be released in the area where the engine is stored and come into contact with ignition sources such as engine and exhaust components. There have been no injuries reported to date, according to Ford. The report from NHTSA stated that drivers of the affected vehicles should park and turn off the engines “as quickly as possible” if they hear “unexpected engine noises, notice a reduction in vehicle power, or see smoke.”
