Ford Motor Company recently issued a recall of roughly 25,000 vehicles due to the pre-collision feature not being enabled. In the case that drivers are relying on this feature to work, it could result in an accident. When it works correctly, the pre-collision assist feature acts as a forward collision warning that alerts the driver if they are at risk of hitting the driver in front of them. If warranted, this feature also provides braking support to the driver.
Affected Vehicles
This recall affects the 2020 models of the Ford Expedition as well as the Lincoln Navigator. These particular vehicles have a camera-only pre-collision assist feature while vehicles that have the optional radar-plus-camera pre-collision assist system have not been recalled.
Ford began notifying drivers of this recall on May 25, 2020. The recall number is 20S20 and drivers can also contact Ford directly if they want to determine whether or not their vehicle is impacted. Owners may contact Ford’s customer service line at 866-436-7332.
