An estimated 425,000 Jeep Compass SUVs and Ram 1500 trucks from 2019 and 2020 model years are being recalled due to a faulty part in the windshield wiper. The nut that attaches to the wiper assembly was replaced with a slightly different version, causing the defect. This defect could cause windshield wipers to fail and make it difficult for drivers to see the road, resulting in a crash.
Drivers should be aware that the wipers won’t clear precipitation properly from the windshield properly before they fail completely. They also may not return to their proper rest position between wipes or when turned off.
Affected Vehicles
Both 2019-2020 Ram 1500 and Ram 1500 Classic pickup trucks that were manufactured from April 28, 2019, through March 3, 2020 are affected. Drivers can contact FCA directly at 800-853-1403 to see if their vehicle is affected.
FCA is the parent company that owns both Jeep and Ram, and it is not aware of any crashes or deaths related to this recall.
