Fiat Chrysler announced two separate recalls recently, both of which affect Dodge Ram vehicles. The first recall affects 660,000 vehicles, including 2013-2017 Ram 3500 pickups and 2014-2017 Ram 2500 pickups and 3500 chassis cabs.
This specific recall found that a bad configuration could potentially prevent drivers from properly steering the vehicle. A nut is able to come loose, leading to drivers unable to steer. Fiat Chrysler has reported that there has been one injury and eight accidents possibly related to the recall.
The second recall was for nearly 222,000 2019 Ram 1500 pickups which are equipped with adjustable pedals. Recently, they found out that certain adjustments could actually cause the brake pedals to detach, leaving drivers unable to properly brake.
Essentially, the brake pedal could detach if a driver moves the pedals to the rear-most position. This is most dangerous when trucks are at highway speeds. However, many of these vehicles are still on dealership lots and will be fixed prior to being sold to customers; though there are people who have bought or leased these pickups already.
While Fiat Chrysler will notify customers if their vehicle is affected, you can always find out if your vehicle is a lemon by visiting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and entering your vin number here.
