Ford issued a recall for the 2018 Expedition as well as the Lincoln Navigator SUVs due to a missing J-channel reinforcement bracket that may cause second-row seats to be unrestrained during an accident. This recall affects roughly 38,000 Expedition and Navigator models located throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. The recall only applies to vehicles that have second-row bench seats that didn’t receive the J-channel reinforcement during assembly. Either one or both brackets may be missing, which could cause injuries in the case of an accident.
Visit Your Local Ford Dealership
If you are an owner of one of the recalled vehicles, you can visit your local Ford dealership, and a technician will inspect it to see if the J-channel brackets are there. If one or both brackets are missing, dealers will completely replace the center-seat assembly for free.
There have been no reported injuries due to the issue.
