When you purchase a vehicle and invest a substantial amount of money, you are expecting quality in return. When it comes to the transmissions in the 2011-2015 Ford Fiesta and 2012-2015 Ford Focus models, thousands of drivers are complaining that they are scared to drive their vehicles. Some drivers have reported that their vehicles jerk, stutter, and stop without warning. There are also reports that these vehicles are not shifting smoothly and posing a serious safety concern. Many drivers are frustrated and unimpressed with Ford dealership excuses for not being able to repair the issue.
What Ford Has Done
Ford is aware of the numerous complaints about the vehicle’s shifting patterns. Ford describes the PowerShift automated-manual transmission as “exceptional powertrain efficiency” and “a unique shift feel”. There is no forced recall at this time. Ford is in the process of contacting the affected owners and offering upgraded transmission software and extended warranties. Is this enough?
